Catalogs

What is this for?

The Catalogs page lets you create and manage reusable lists of values — such as countries, departments, ticket types, or any other reference data — that you can later use in registration forms, event journeys, and email templates across your events. Instead of typing the same options repeatedly, you define them once in a catalog and reuse them everywhere.

Opening the Catalogs Page

  1. In the left sidebar, click Catalogs (the book icon).
  2. The page opens at /app/catalogs-editor and shows a table of all your existing catalogs.

Understanding the Screen Layout

The page has two main areas:

  • Top Action Bar — A dark gray bar with a single button: CREATE CATALOG. Click it to add a new catalog.
  • Catalogs Table — Below the action bar, a list of all catalogs you own. Each row shows:
    • Name — The catalog's display name.
    • Description — Optional description you provided.
    • Created — Date the catalog was created.
    • Updated — Date of the last change.
    • Actions — A three-dot menu with operations for that catalog.

Creating a New Catalog

  1. Click CREATE CATALOG in the top action bar.
  2. A popup appears with two fields:
    • Catalog name (required) — Enter a clear, recognizable name. Maximum 100 characters.
    • Catalog description (optional) — Add a short note about what this catalog is for. Maximum 200 characters.
  3. Click Save. The new catalog appears at the top of the table.

Note: The catalog name must be unique within your account. If you try to save a duplicate name, the system will show an error.

Editing a Catalog

  1. In the catalogs table, find the row of the catalog you want to change.
  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) at the right end of the row.
  3. Choose Edit.
  4. Modify the name and/or description in the popup.
  5. Click Save.

Viewing Where a Catalog Is Used

Before deleting a catalog, you may want to check which events use it.

  1. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) on the catalog row.
  2. Choose Used in (info icon).
  3. A popup opens showing a searchable table of events that reference this catalog:
    • Event Name
    • Created date
  4. Use the Search by name field to filter the list.
  5. Click Close when done.

Why this matters: You cannot delete a catalog that is currently used in any event. The "Used in" view lets you find and remove those references first.

Deleting a Catalog

  1. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) on the catalog row.
  2. Choose Remove.
  3. A confirmation dialog appears.
  4. Confirm to delete permanently.

Blocked deletion: If the catalog is used in one or more events, the system prevents deletion and shows an error: “Error remove! Used in events!” You must first remove the catalog from those events (via the Event Constructor) before you can delete it.

Common Questions

Why can't I delete a catalog? The catalog is referenced by at least one event. Open Used in to see which events, then remove the catalog from those events in the Event Constructor.

Can I duplicate a catalog? There is no direct "Duplicate" button. To copy a catalog, create a new one, then use the Dictionary view to export the original's lists to Excel and import them into the new catalog.

Is there a limit on how many catalogs I can create? Your subscription plan may limit the total number of catalogs or the total number of dictionary items across all catalogs. Check your plan details if you hit a limit.

What happens to dictionary items when I delete a catalog? All dictionary items (list values) belonging to that catalog are permanently deleted as well. This cannot be undone.
