Tools Panel Actions

What is this for?

The Tools Panel is the top toolbar in the Event Constructor. It gives you quick access to the most important actions: saving your work, previewing the public page, activating the event, stopping it, and changing the page background color.

The Tools Panel sits at the very top of the constructor, divided into three sections: Layouts (left), Tools (center), Actions (right).

Layouts Section (Left)

Currently reserved for future layout templates. No active tools are shown here yet.

Tools Section (Center)

Page Background Color

  • Icon: Color picker (eyedropper)
  • Tooltip: "Page background color"
  • What it does: Opens a color picker. Choose any color — it becomes the background of the entire constructor canvas (behind all blocks).
  • Default: Light gray (#DADADA).
  • Saved automatically: No need to click Save; the color is applied instantly and persisted with the event.

Actions Section (Right)

Save

  • Icon: Floppy disk
  • Label: "Save"
  • Button style: Green text button
  • What it does: Persists all current changes — blocks, content, form fields, metadata, journey, integration — to the server.
  • When to use: Click frequently while working. The constructor also auto-saves periodically, but manual Save guarantees nothing is lost.
  • Behavior: If the event already exists (has an ID), it updates it. If it's new, it creates the event and adds the ID to the browser URL.

Preview

  • Icon: Eye
  • Tooltip: "Preview event"
  • Button style: Square icon button
  • What it does: Opens the public registration page in a new tab exactly as attendees will see it.
  • Requirements: The event must be saved at least once (have an ID). If you haven't saved yet, clicking Preview saves first, then opens the preview.

Check & Activate

  • Icon: Checkmark
  • Label: "Check & Activate"
  • Button style: Green text button
  • What it does: Runs a full validation suite, then opens the Activation Popup.
  • Validation checks:
    1. Required metadata filled (Name, Start Date, Timezone).
    2. Form has at least one field.
    3. Events only: A Journey is attached.
    4. No spam-filter words in email templates (if journey exists).
    5. Subscriber capacity within plan limits.
  • If validation fails: A popup lists the specific errors. Fix them and try again.
  • If validation passes: The Activate Event popup appears. You can optionally compose a notification email to send to existing subscribers upon activation. Click Continue to set the event status to Active. The public link becomes live immediately.

Stop Event

  • Icon: Stop circle
  • Tooltip: "Stop event"
  • Button style: Square icon button
  • Visibility: Only shown when the event status is Active.
  • What it does: Opens the Stop Event popup. You can optionally send a notification email to subscribers informing them registration is closed. Confirm to change status to Stopped. The public link stops working. Subscribers already registered are not removed.

Keyboard Shortcuts

  • Ctrl/Cmd + S → Save
  • Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + P → Preview (when event has ID)

Important Rules & Tips

Note: The Check & Activate button is your "go live" switch. You cannot activate an event that fails validation — the system protects you from publishing incomplete setups.

Note: Stop Event does not delete data. Subscriptions, form responses, and journey history are preserved. You can re-activate later.

Tip: Change the Page Background Color early to match your brand. It applies behind all blocks, including the form block.

Tip: Use Preview often while designing. It shows the exact responsive layout, font rendering, and button states that attendees will see.
